Jean has been with Dr. John Liljenquist off and on since he moved to Idaho Falls in 1979. She was his first diabetes educator at his office on Woodruff. She attended college at Colorado State University majoring in Dietetics. She did her Dietetic Internship in Dallas.

She met her husband at Colorado State University and they were married 35 years ago. They moved to Idaho Falls from Ft. Collins, Colorado in 1975. They have two children and both live in Idaho Falls. With the children gone, they have filled the house with 3 cats and two dogs. .

During her career, Jean has lived and worked in Grand Junction, Colorado, Oak Ridge, Tennessee, Edison, New Jersey and Idaho Falls. Each location has offered a new if not interesting learning opportunity. Idaho Falls is a favorite spot because of it's proximity to Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Park and all the recreational opportunities available. She and her husband bike, hike, camp, and take pictures. Doug has filled their home with beautiful pictures from their many outings.

Jean has written several books for diabetes, insulin resistance, heart health, and general wellness. She has had the opportunity to serve on several professional boards and speaks locally on diabetes and osteoporosis. But her great love is working with people who have diabetes and/or insulin resistance and helping them develop a treatment plan to manage their disease successfully. Jean recognizes the importance of this as her husband and son both have type 1 diabetes and all her siblings have type 2 diabetes.
