Barbara received her Associates degree from Ricks College in Rexburg, Idaho and completed her bachelor’s degree at Idaho State University in Pocatello, Idaho. Her practicum was completed in southeast Idaho through Idaho State University.

Barbara has been with the Rocky Mountain Diabetes Center since 1998 as an onsite dietitian and educator for clinical research trials. Barbara loves her job and especially working with patients and their families to improve their understanding of diabetes and their health. Barbara not only teaches dietetics but is also an insulin pump trainer who instructs patients one-on-one and occasionally in the classroom, often attending area health fairs throughout southeast Idaho, Barbara promotes diabetes awareness and education to the general public.

To help patients with the dilemma of meal planning while emphasizing healthy food that can be delicious, Barbara wrote the book, “Just for the Health of It, Simple diabetes recipes everyone will enjoy.” The book, endorsed by the doctors at Rocky Mountain Diabetes Center, includes a variety of tasty recipes from soup and salads to entrees and desserts.

Personal Background

Barbara is married with 5 children and enjoys spending time with them hiking or by attending their sporting events including football, cross country, track and soccer.

Barbara enjoys trying new foods, cooking and changing recipes to make them healthier. She also gardens and collects antique canning jars and cookbooks.

Each year, Barbara rides her bike in the MS 150 bike ride raising awareness for MS research.
