Rocky Mountain Diabetes Center currently has three physicians with extensive training and experience in overseeing subjects in clinical trials. Dr. John Liljenquist (emeritus) paved the way with these trials for over 30 years and has overseen hundreds of studies. Drs. Carl Vance and Dave Liljenquist are continuing extensive research involvement, having participated in clinical trials for over a decade. Dr. Joshua Smith is also contributing to clinical trials, specifically targeting pediatric studies.
The research staff at Rocky Mountain Diabetes Center has over 130 years of combined research experience. Our staff includes a Pharm.D. from Idaho State University, who is a Certified Clinical Research Professional, and seven certified research coordinators.
We have an excellent regulatory documents department that has developed unique methods of managing the ever-changing mass of documents in such an efficient way that many auditors have suggested it to be taught to other sites.
Because research in the medical field is always changing, our menu of current clinical trials is also very fluid. We frequently have trials for both type 1 and type 2 diabetes, as well as diabetic neuropathy, diabetic nephropathy (kidney disease), hypertension, high cholesterol, and obesity. Our goal is to provide safe and effective clinical trials offering the newest investigational products and technologies while keeping our subjects engaged and providing the best care available.
Participation in clinical trials offers our patients a chance to engage with the exciting work to improve the lives of those affected by diabetes. They add to the momentum that grows the medical knowledge-base about diabetes, which opens the doors to more effective treatments. By participating in clinical trials, our patients can also receive novel treatments not yet available to the public.
